Kasey Carson, a walk-on linebacker at Western Michigan University, was awarded a full ride to the school folllowing his first season with the Broncos. Thats an awesome surprise, but the even greater part is that Sylvester Stallone helped coach P.J. Fleck present Carsons scholarship over the video boards at the stadium.
Fleck entered the practice field in full game-day gear and challenged the sophomore to stop him from scoring a touchdown. He said that if Carson stopped him, the team would not have to go to evening meetings after training. Carson was successful, and the team was ecstatic.
Then, Fleck asked the players to look at the stadiums video boards. Streaming on the displays was none other than Sylvester Stallone, along with businessman Alec Gores, who played for the Broncos in 1973.
The pair commended Carson for pushing himself and achieving everything he has since joining the team, then announced his scholarship. Last season, Carson made eight tackles over his nine game appearances.
