A new report from SB Nation claims that Floyd Mayweather took an IV vitamin injection before his bout against Manny Pacquiao in their championship bout. This goes against the World Anti-Doping Agency guidelines. A retroactive exemption was given three weeks after the fight for use of the IV.

After Mayweathers weigh in, employees from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency had him complete a random drug test  where it was found that an IV was used. Bob Bennett, director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, told SB nation that the USDA was not clear as to whether or not Mayweather received the IV at the time the employees arrived to the house. That said, the USDA had told NSAC that Mayweather didnt apply for the TUE till 18 days later after the fight; this was 19 days after the test.

Mayweathers medical team says the fighter was given two different vitamin combos to treat dehydration. Even though the IVs didnt contain any banned substances, they are still banned under WADA guidelines. The reason: they can hide other substances.
